Battery back-up or water powered emergency sump pump provides extra protection in the event the primary sump pump fails, the main pump is prevented from operating, a power outage occurs due to storms or any other cause of excess water accumulation in the sump pit.
A 12 volt battery back-up sump pump provides extra protection in the event the primary sump pump fails, the main pump is prevented from operating, a power outage occurs due to storms or any other cause of excess water accumulation in the sump pit. Newer sump pumps combine the features of both types of sump pumps into one unit. These systems provide standard AC power operation of the sump pump and when needed the battery backup emergency sump pump functions.
The backup sump pump system is powered by a 12V deep cycle battery . A controller/charger monitors the battery condition and charges the battery when required. It also alerts you when the pump has operated. Typical system can operate in excess of 6 hrs. equivalent run time.
The control box monitors reverse connection, faulty battery and sounds warning alarm with alarm light when backup sump pump is activated, tests the battery and trickle charges the battery.
